What is Interlibrary Loan?
Dallas College students, staff and faculty can request to borrow items (like books or journal articles) that Dallas College does not own.
Eligible Borrowers - The Dallas College Library can borrow material for currently enrolled students, faculty, staff and retirees of Dallas College.
Types of Materials - The library will attempt to borrow any item which normally circulates. We cannot borrow the following: TEXTBOOKS and other required course material; rare or valuable material; material in high demand; material with circulation restrictions such as reference, reserves, and genealogy; newly published material; material already owned by Dallas College. There is no guarantee that we can find a lender for all requests.
Time Requirements - Delivery times vary depending on the availability of the item, the location of the lending library and the delivery method; average time is 3 - 4 weeks. There is no guarantee a request will be filled.
Renewals - May or may not be granted by the lending library; contact your campus library before the due date to request renewal or login to your ILL CLIO account to submit a renewal request yourself.
The first time you login to the ILL system (CLIO) you will need to setup your account. Your name should be auto-filled. Please use your Dallas College email address as your contact. The number should be your 7 digit ID number. Choose your preferred Dallas College campus library for pickup location.
The form for requesting an Interlibrary Loan can be found at the bottom of this box. You will need to login using your Dallas College credentials.
To start a new request, hover over Request in the upper menu and choose either New Article Request or New Book Request. If you are requesting a copy of an academic article, or a copy of a chapter or portion of a book, you will use the article request. If you are requesting a physical book you will use the Book Request.
Fill out as much information as you have about the item you are requesting.
